Exercise -- good, or bad?

Okay, I need to start exercising.  Barb tells me she marches on the spot while watching TV.  I think I'll try that, but I'd prefer something I could do quicker, so I was finished sooner. . .  Undecided

My bg was also the lowest it's been all month! Cool  I'm very happy about that!

Yay Donna!  I can't march on the spot but I do walk on the treadmill which is nearly the same thing.

 I'm kind of learning how to navigate the new boards.

Thanks Donna.  I did that for this thread, but I can't find IAC to add it to my favorites. It'll be handy, having them all at my fingertips, but I guess it'll take awhile to find them in the first place.  Oh well, I'm not in a big rush...you'll all still be there when I find the room, right?Laughing

Ugh!

I feel like I'm stumbling around near blind...everything looks sorta familiar but...not.Undecided Guess I'll hafta play more tomorrow. *sigh*

I found this by accident but am glad i did!

I am bound and dtermined to lose a good 40-50 lbs this year! I've been exercising pretty regularly (unless I'm on the road it's 4-5 days/week) for a few months (well except for December anyhow - too much going on. LOL) and I've been trying to eat healthier. I even joined the Slim Fast challenge to see if it helps. So I'm glad I found this forum for moral support as well.

new home

I think I like the new look once you get used to the changes it will be pretty nice.

My nephew and his wife had a new baby girl today.  Their third girl.  She was 10 lbs. 14 oz. and 22 inches long.  She has the chubbiest cheeks.  Since I work at the hospital I was able to pop up on my lunch and see the newest little angel.  Had to stop before I went home too.

My intake today was ok.  I did walk on the treadmill this morning and I have been working on moving my clothes upstairs from the downstairs bedroom. We are doing a trial move and seeing how we like the upstairs bedroom.  With 3 empty bedrooms we can move around to find our favorite room.  Actually two of the biggest rooms are upstairs.  We are moving to the second biggest and if we like being upstairs then we are redoing the biggest room for the master suite.  No point in putting in alot of work and money if we don't like being upstairs.  Anyways, I figure all of the running up and down the stairs should help with the exercise.

Not enough tire kicking

I knew I didn't do enough tire kicking.  Frown  It was just the wrong time of the year, and I didn't have time to do as much as I'd have liked. 

 Guess I'll learn along with everyone else. 

I solved the problem of not liking to walk on the spot.  I've now got an elliptor machine in my basement.  Cool  And I'm getting pretty good at using it, too. 

I've marked this as favorite, and accepted everyone who wanted to make me their buddy, but couldn't find where to ask others to be my buddy.  It's after 1 a.m. -- maybe that's why?  Wink  I'm off to bed for today, I'll work on this more tomorrow. . .  Smile

I was going nuts trying to figure out how to add friends.

I did not say that I marched in step. maybe it was somebody else?  I do use the rebounder but that's not marching. Actually since I was recovering from the fall I've done no exercise, but I have to go back now. watched the biggest loser/couples last night.  whoever ate the most calories in a temptation exercise won $5 grand. Since this was just before the weigh in it was really dirty pool. They say there's medical supervision but for some of these people I wondered about them colapsing from the vigorous exercise. some of the women weighed more than I did, at least one weighed less.

I really want to know what are they telling them about eating?  I do not do what some of these people do, many sodas, much fast food or even really large servings.  I've tried to do more small meals, but sometimes I get busy and don't eat at all. so what they are telling them is crucial to me. They exercise so much everyday I wonder when they do eat. I felt sorry for some of the people who wondered why they had such small weight loss in the second week or even gained a pound. I'm sure it's water replacement and the change from fat to muscles.

Barb~I know what you mean. I don't eat like a lot of the larger folks on some of these shows do. At least I don't think I do. Fast food is actually a rarity for me as is most junk food. Every now and then I go a little crazy with portions if it's something I haven't had in a while that I love but that doesn't happen too often. I feel like I eat like all the thin people in my life. So why do I not lose??? So frustrating.

 

I don't like that you can't scroll up and see previous posts while commenting.  I sometimes forget who I was meant to comment to and need to scroll back up and look. Guess I'll have to start taking notes while reading posts, huh?

 

 Needless to say, I forgot what else I was going to say. Maybe later. lol

 

 Had a tunafish sandwhich for supper last night. (teaspoon of mayo and a palmful of raisins mixed in on whole wheat bread ) I'm trying to get more tuna in my life with it's healthy fat. Wink

I've got my two granddaughters here for two weeks -- Mommy and Daddy took the little guy and went to the Dominican for two weeks.  They haven't even been there one full day and already one of the girls was in tears because they miss Mommy.  This two weeks can't go fast enough to suit me. . . 

I don't think I slept more than 2 hours last night.  So tonight I'm hitting the sack early.  Goodnight!  Kiss

YAY! :) Now I've found my two favorite places. Adding them to favorites so I can find them again later.

I ate horrible again today, even after deciding to be good. Weighed in at WW and am back up the 5lbs I had lost. :P phooey on that. Anyway, I have tomorrow's food planned out and am seriously contemplating going back to HM. I hate being FAT!

ANyway, this weekend starts the TO boat show. Whoohoo!

My youngest daughter is getting married in 18 months and that has really made me determined to lose the excess 80 poundsEmbarassed I have and get toned up to look nice at the wedding. I have started on exercise at the gym on my lunch hour. any suggestions on what else to do?Laughing

Hi to all of you,glad to see you finding your way around.  I was in on Tire Kicking but still have things to learn,but have to admit it was funLaughing.                            Had really high hopes of being on the positive side of  controlling my sugar but ended up sick plus had our oven die & couple other upsets. April had a baby girl!

It's been a long while since April stopped by, but I thought some of you would be interested in knowing she has a new baby girl.  Greenlee was born just a couple of days after Christmas and is beautiful! :)   I haven't talked to April, but on her blog it sounds like she's adjusting to life with the new baby well.

I have done pretty well

I have done pretty well today, I am determined to lose the 10 pounds by Valentines and hopefully another 10 by summer.  I cannot believe that I abandoned all of my good sense over the holidays.  It is so hard to get back on track when you let yourself get so far off.  I cannot believe how easy it was to slide into the bad habits.

Sara thanks for the update on April.  That is great news.  Glad she is adjusting to life with a tiny one again.  Tell her congratulations for me.  I know that you can get on track too.  I just needed to start writing all of my food down again.  When I started looking at the points (or amount of calories) I was consuming I am amazed I didn't gain 50 pounds.

The walking on the treadmill is going well.  I just need to be consist in adding some strength training too.

Wanna hear something crazy??

I did great all day.  Snacked on about 6 french fries and a bite of chicken finger at lunch, but other than that did great  Then I took the girls to McD's at Walmart for supper.  I didn't feel great, so you know what I did???  I ate some of their french fries and 1.5 nuggets!!! WHAT?! :p Crazy.

Then I came home, still not feeling well . . .so I ate some triscuits (half fat. . .love 'em!).  Oh, and a mini Laura Secord milk chocolate bar, and a Lindor Mint ball. 

I confuse me. 

Jana-I've been reading your blog still in bits. The last month was pretty crazy.  Unbusy but busy.  

 Chatty-next time I talk to April, I will tell her. :) She's looking amazing btw.  

 I bought a new work out dvd.  .  . it's one you can do on your bed.  Carmen Electra's one.  Haven't tried it yet though.  I'm still contemplating whether I'd actually do it or not.  LOL

Cathy~I know what you mean. It's like we give ourselves permission to make poor choices and then forget what good choices are out there! That's the case for me, anyway. You'll get back on track, though. (((hugs)))

 

I actually did okay yesterday. I only had one little hiccup and that was in the delicious form of a cinnimon sugar bagel with low fat honey almond cream cheese. It was sooooo good. But that was really the only thing that threw me off track as far as healthy choices, goes.

I'm starting again

Well New Year's Resolutions and all that.  Well I'm really going to do it this year.  I've signed myself up for the local "Star Loser Contest" ( like the biggest loser ).  There's money involved and for this cheapskate at heart, is a big deal.  I've also signed us up with a family membership at the local YMCA.  I've gone up there every day so far, except Wednesdays.  I've got bowling league those nights.  I won't get there today, but I'm going on Saturday.  One week, and I've lost 5 pounds.  Not a lot, but it's a start.  I'm watching my portions and my eating fast food on my lunch hour.

 The girls absolutely love going up there.  I have a hard time telling them when it's time to leave, which definitely helps.  If they fought me, it'd make me not want to go.   Hubby hasn't been feeling well so he hasn't gone yet.  We're both hoping he's feeling up to going tomorrow.

Well got to get some work done.

Are you crazy?  Five pounds in a week is GREAT!!! :)  Give yourself a pat on the back and keep at it, you're doing amazing. :) 

Jana-Yeah. . .that's kind of what I'm worried about. . .when am I going to do this?! Not while my girls are awake or at least nearby.  We do have a lock on our door though.  We'll see.

I'm patting myself on the back. I resisted the very strong temptation to go for another bagel and instead opted for a 100 calorie snack and a cup of tea. After I get paid next week I'm going to buy some carrot chips and some non fat dip to snack on during breaks. Maybe some fruit, too. Maybe some mini-bagels to sort of help me with those cravings.
