Ask Lorie and Jayne
Welcome to the 100,000 Book Challenge!
Some of you are old hands at this, but there are a great many more of you who are new to this process.
Last year we doubled our total number of book challengers, which is great news...but, it made it a whole lot easier for messages to slip through the cracks and go missing.
That's why it makes sense to keep all of our questions in one place so we don't miss anyone.
So, got a question? We'll try to provide the answers....
Read, have fun, and support a worthy cause.

Book Reviews, Teams
I've added one book review, kind of just testing this new format & site. How do I add anything to favorites & how does our team work now?
You are all going to get so many questions! I'll try not to be to much of a pest. Really!!
Take care, happy reading,
Donna M
Hi Donna
To add a discussion room to your favorites, you click on the link right next to the one for a new comment at the top of a page. To add a person to your favorites, click on their name (in blue) near the top of one of their posts, then just click on adding them to your list.
I hope this helps and doesn't confuse. I'm good at that.

Donna, there's a little
Donna, there's a little button on the right below the room description click on it to add to favorites.
Got my book blogging all caught up.
Oh I almost forgot is there a way to put bookcovers in our book reviews?
Place looks good! Well I'm back to exploring.

counter
I entered 4 book reviews but my counter only shows 2. Did I do something wrong?

Monnlissa ~ as soon as I
Moonlissa ~ as soon as I get a chance.
DonnaM ~ I'm working on teams, one mountain a day is my maximum.
Thanks Kim.
Cynthia ~ I'll have to look at it when I get a chance.
Re: Counter
Cynthia, I just checked your blog and you entered two as book reviews and two as blog entrys .... in order to count for the Challenge you must post them all as book reviews ..... if you go to your blog, and redo the blog entries as book reviews .....
hope that helps!

Okay .... I was going to ask
Okay .... I was going to ask about the Teams and how they would work ....... I'll wait for you word on that Lorie .....
btw, everything here looks marvelous darling!
are we going to get more formating tools? ... there isn't a tool to add pics
~~ KatherineT ~ I'm a Harlequin Addict, and I'm proud of it! ~~
Lori I thought that you were
Lori I thought that you were superwoman and could scale mountains with a single bound. LOL
ELLEN TOO
A true teacher is a person who, at the end of the school day, still likes children!
I sure can Ellen, but I can
I sure can Ellen, but I can only handle two at a time.
Formating tools
Hi Lorie .... are we going to get more formating tools? ..... right now the only options on my tool bar are the Bold, Italics, Underscore, Strikethrough, unordered list, ordered list, link, unlink and smilies ...... there's no Word clipboard, and no option for adding pics and no changing font colours
thanks!
~~ KatherineT ~ I'm a Harlequin Addict, and I'm proud of it! ~~
Thanks, Lorie
I'll wait to hear about the teams, thanks. Did you know mountain climbing was a requirement for Hosty? Hang in there.
Take care, happy reading,
Donna M
buttons and climbing
Katherine ~ I don't know, I will ask though.
Donna ~ No, I didn't but it suits my hyperactive personality.
Image code
I would very much appreciate knowing the correct image code to use on the new site. The old code does not work, or at least it does not show in the preview.
editing tools
Merri, right now the only editing tools we have are the buttons ..... B = bold .... I = italics etc ... to the smilie ..... I made a post to Jayne to let her know that we don't have any of the other editing tools
html tags DO NOT work here .... nor will they ... there is a special html tool that is not being offered here to regular members ..... I suspect that the Hosties have privileges that have not been passed on to us ..... hopefully this will change
for now, we'll just have to work with what we've got ... until things settle in .... lots of time
~~ KatherineT ~ I'm a Harlequin Addict, and I'm proud of it! ~~
images
I think that's a glitch.
Last I'd heard you guys were supposed to have image buttons too.
I think, in the meantime, if you disable rich-text (right below the comments box) then the standard image code should work.
We've always had special buttons Katherine, comes with the job.
there is no option to ......
there is no option to disable rich text, Lorie ........ as I mentioned earlier we have very limited editing tools ..... just the plain jane (hey Jayne
) bare bones tools
that was the case at first on the Beta site too until Jayne gave us some tools for our tool box

Thanks for the help,
Thanks for the help, Katherine! I've fixed the problem. There has to be an idiot in every village . . . since I got half right, does that make me a half-wit? (Remember the well scene in The 10th Kingdom? I still laugh when I think about it.)
Cynthia
re: there is no option to...
Yep, no button to disable rich text for me either.
I'm happy enough now just knowing there's supposed to be one...eventually
This may be a silly question, but...
... on the book reviews, I've noticed that some people have a blurb under the title of the review ~ actually I do as well on my second review. But all the rest just show the title, that I reviewed the book at such-and-such a time.
So my question to all you other savvy computer people ~ Lorie and Jayne I really, really don't want to bother you 'cause I know that you're probably being run off you feet... figuratively speaking of course ~ is:
"How do I get that little blurb-y thing back under the title?"
That's it... and now I'm going to hide in embarassed silence.

You are doing such a great
You are doing such a great job, thanks to the hosties! I do have a questions as I'm still trying to navigate through. Does anyone know if there is a place to view the list of bloggers, kinda like what we had before? Or do I have to scroll through the book blog page where the big list is to find certain people's blogs? I'm sure there's an easy way for me to find out, I'm just having problems. Thanks!
Blurbs and Lists
Kathy ~ I don’t know how you can fix it, I’ll see what I can find out though.
Tracey ~ At the moment, you’re going to have to scroll, because while I do have a master list I haven’t put it anywhere y’all can access it.
Hi Lorie: Cool new system.
Hi Lorie:
Cool new system. Bet it's driving y'all nuts.
I was just wondering what happened to the old blogs. Are they gone forever? I was hoping to retrieve some info from the old blog and I found out that my old links don't work.
Thanks for the new toy........
Take care......Wayne

old blogs
Try this link Wayne, although I don't know how long you'll be able to access it so you'd best get what you want while you can.
Best Wishes to you Lorie and
Best Wishes to you Lorie and Jayne.
I sent an email to the technical issues addy about some problems observed and feedback taken from the various forums I've read. Was that appropriate, or would you prefer that we post here? (Or maybe you'd prefer we shut the h*ll up?
)

Question???
Okay my belief on questions is this: If you don't ask, you'll never know. No question is a silly question.
Well here goes: How do you read a person's complete blog? Not just a particular blog entry.

Blurb...
Thank you Lorie! And I'm not in a hurry... I know that you must be going crazy... or wanting to?
KaLyKo ~ I'm a readaholic and Proud of it!!
Re: Question???
Star, I can answer that!
click on the name of the person who's blog you'd like to read and their Profile page will come up
you'll see a section "Most Recent Entries" ..... if they have a few entries listed, there will be a button "More" ... click on that and it will open up a new page with all this person's entries .......... though I'm sad to see that the entries open up in "trimmed version" and to read the whole entry you have to open up the entry .... similar to the "teaser" we had on the old blogs
Lorie or Jayne, any chance of having the blogs open in full version ... or at least the very first blog entry on the page like on the iHeartsPresents site? ... thanks!

Questions and quirks.
Either would work FF, and yes, that’s how I’m leaving that response...lol
Star, Katherine is correct, that is how you'd do it.
Thanks Katherine. I’ll add your question to the list, but for the time being, it’ll have to stay as is until we make sure all bugs are squashed, etc.
