This is the second book in Vivi Anna’s Valorian Chronicles, and I have no idea why it took me so long to read the book; I’ve had it on my TBR shelves for a few months now. But as they say, better late than never. This book is wonderful continuation of Caine and Eve’s story in Blood Secrets; I can hardly wait for the next chapter!
BOOK READ:
Vivi Anna; Dark Lies; Silhouette Nocturne #26; October 2007
2nd in The Valorian Chronicles
‘Mesmerizing case of an otherworld forensic crime-solving
unit led by Caine Valorian, charismatic vampire.’
SYNOPSIS:
Jace Jericho is a werewolf with a well-founded hatred of humans. Home is Necropolis, a city for races other than human that’s situated just outside San Antonio, TX. Here Jace works on the Otherworld Crime Unit and they investigate crimes that are beyond that of the human purview. Unfortunately, the OCU is headed into San Antonio because of a gruesome murder that has definite Otherworld characteristics.
Tala Channing is a police officer in San Antonio and has been brought in to work with the group of Otherworld investigators on the latest case. She can’t say that she’s overjoyed; she has a secret that she’s lived with all her life and getting close to a group of non-humans may lead to questions that she can’t answer.
Upon the meeting of Jace and Tala, both are shocked at their reaction to the other ~ something definitely unnerving has affected both of them… and then there’s this murder case to solve. More than a few questions abound about everything.
MY NOTES:
I love, love, love the “other” world that Vivi Anna has created in her Valorian Chronicles. And with the combination of a definite CSI theme, the stories are far more than just a story ~ they’re both a lesson and entertainment… and don’t forget the incredible romance! We get to see more of Caine and Eve and how human Eve is settling in to her life in Necropolis. I really enjoy stories with such a strong connection; but even so you could read the books as standalones, but they’re much, much better read in tandem.
RATING:
Great to Excellent ~ 3.5 stars {a keeper and a re-read; author’s Valorian Chronicles an autobuy}

Debi...
I'm certainly going to be on top of the next book that's out... after reading this I'm wondering just why did it take me so long?

I have those moments too...
And I wonder just why the heck I didn't read a particular book sooner! There just isn't enough time to get to all the great books!
True...
.. so very true.... If I was to read all the books that I wanted to read right away, I'd never do anything... eat, sleep.. nada.
And then be quiet. LOL
Not very practical, so I guess I'll just have to stick with what I'm doing and decry the fact that it took me so long to read something...

Vivi Anna
Hey Kathy!
Viv Anna is a personal favorite of mine. I havent read this Nocturne, but LOVED her first Nocturne. So much so that I went and picked up a few of her books from other publishers. And they were awesome!! Made my top ten list last year, Hell Kat and Inferno. Loved those books!!!
BTW, I am reading a book I think you really enjoyed. I broke down and bought Black Ice
Take Care,
