Snowbound by Janice Kay Johnson

Back cover blurb: When a blizzard strands Fiona MacPherson and her students in Oregon's Cascade Mountains, their only hope of survival is to seek shelter at Thunder Mountain Lodge. Their host is John Fallon, a handsome, enigmatic war veteran haunted by secrets and scars that may never heal.

John Fallon never imagined he'd be playing host to this captivating teacher and her eight teenage charges. But when his solitude is shattered by their arrival, his world shifts on its axis. He needs Fiona—but does she need him? There's only one way to find out. The ex-soldier must find the courage to reach out to the remarkable woman who has transformed his life.…

I enjoyed this book immensly. John was such a complex character and I loved how he had to begin to resolve his issues (mainly PTSD) before could ever truly committ to Fiona and even more, I loved that Fiona would accept him fully until he at least committed to getting the help he needed. This was no weak-knee'd heroine here.

The icing on the cake was the sweet friendship that bloomed between these two characters in the most unlikely of circumstances. That they forged not just a romanctic love but a friendship as well really great. Another refreshing thing about this book was the involvement and interactions with the teens that were stranded at the lodge with them. They were really fun and had a very real feel to them. They added an extra element of interest for sure.

All in all, I give this one an A++.Laughing

My first Superromance

I liked the back cover blurb and ordered it. It should arrive soon. I don't know the Superromance line at all. After reading your review I'm very glad I decided to start with this book. Thanks!

Yay!

Berlin~I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I personally love the SuperRomance Line. It's grown and matured a lot in recent years into a stellar line of books.

Cady~She's an auto-buy for me as well. Can't miss with one of her books. Smile

SuperRomance

What can I expect from the SuperRomance titles? Just longer? What sort of stories will I find there? Do you have favorites?

Supers

Well, Supers offer a variety of storytelling. There is light suspence/mystery in some. Some are super emotional that explore some heavier true-to-life stories. Some are simply expanded (longer) traditional romances. Some use humor and some are really sexy. It's really all in the author, I think. I personally love the heavier emotional romances that often deal with some true-to-life obsticles that the characters have to push through to find their HEA. But I enjoy a lot of the other styles, too.

If you can find anything from Susan Gable, pick it up.  I think she's one of my favorites though there hasn't been anything new from her in a while. Terry McLaughlin's great, too, as is Janice Kay Johnson, Amy Frazier, Tara Taylor Quinn--I'm blanking on some other names but I know there are quite a few that are auto-buys for me. I'll try to think of some more later.

Most of the time you can get a good sense from the back cover copy as to what type of story it's likely to be. I like them best because since they ARE longer, the author has more time to flesh out the stories and give the characters time to grow which for me is ususally an important factor in enjoying a book.
