Dr. Dane Hendricks and nurse Rikki Johansen would never have gotten together if it hadn't been for several twists of fate. They had nothing in common (or so they thought). She thought he was arrogant and overbearing and he thought she was scatterbrained and incapable of making good decisions. Rikki had been brought up as a foster child and was temporarily taking care of a foster child. Dane has twin daughters he is bringing up alone.
The first time the two come in conflict is when Dane accuses Rikki of giving a patient the wrong medication only to discover someone else had done it. He had to appolgize for that one. The next time is when both end up donating blood platelets and here is where they get to know each other a little better.
Dane has a brother who needs a bone marrow transplant and it turns out Rikki is a match and volunteers to donate. And for better or worse things go on from there with unique twists and turns, and a whole lot of misunderstanding.
This book is an excellent read and keeps you guessing whether or not they'll ever work out their differences and reach a HEA. It is well worth reading.
