The second half of Macomber’s “Christmas Wishes” takes us back 17 years to tell the story of Susannah Simmons and Nate Townsend. It starts with toy company intern Michelle. Her workmates discover that she’s related to the company own. To defuse their reaction, she explains that she’s the reason the company’s owner and his wife met. Flash back 17 years…
Career woman Susannah Simmons finds herself caring for her infant niece while her sister and brother-in-law take a weekend away to salvage a rocky marriage. Infant Michelle (the toy company intern-to-be) is fussy, and neighbor Nate Townsend comes over to Susannah’s apartment to see what all of the racket is about. Naturally Nate comes to the rescue with soothing the baby, making food for a frantic Susannah, etc.
The story ends with Michelle’s revelation of a family Christmas tradition: her telling her cousins how she helped their mom and dad meet.
This was an enjoyable, cute story. It focuses on the characters’ entire lives, not just their obsession with one another. If you like babies and Christmas, you’ll most likely enjoy this story. Also note that Christmas is not overly stressed in this title, which means you can enjoy it any time of the year.
Take care,
