I am going to attempt to explain posting pics/book covers. If you know much about computers, simply do a drag and drop from the cover you want to the comment box.
In more detail, this is how I do it: (I'm sure there is a shorter version of how to this, but at least it works for now)
- I get the cover I want from say the Harlequin site, for example, Tessas latest book. But I made sure to use the thumbnail( the thumbnail is easier to post than the full size pic so far here)like here: http://ebooks.eharlequin.com/39994FF5-9BA3-4F5B-BA01-61174D1075DE/10/126/en/SearchResults.htm?SearchID=8631840&Page=2
- I right clicked on the picture to get its properties, then Copied the link that ends in .jpg or .gif .....looks something like this: http://images.contentreserve.com/ImageType-200/1204-1/%7BB001C0A4-C69A-41BC-A6F7-DFE891D5C30F%7DImg200.jpg The reason I do the next step is because the drag and drop does not seem to work unless the picture image is not linked.
- I took the link and uploaded it to my account at photobucket, and then clicked on the cover I uploaded, so it wasnt linked any longer.
- Then I made the window small, rather than full size, and basically dragged and dropped the actaul picture into my blog box.
This is something new, that I havent used on any other site before. I hope it works for you, and I am sure there are less steps to take once we all figure it out!

Tammy

Thanks Tammy! I managed to
Thanks Tammy! I managed to get it to work using this method...uploaded it to my website like usual and then dragged & dropped from a second window. Never would have figured that out on my own, though!
bravo!
Neither would I have...I was a beta tester and knew about it from there. But they also had another way to post pics that was easy. It is missing right now, but I do not think that was intended. I'm sure it will they will put it back up as soon as they can.
So I guess my instructions made some sense, good to know!

Oh cool .......
Thanks Tammy ... I was wondering how you were getting the covers to come up
I hope they give us the editing tools we were able to use on the Beta site ..... I miss being able to change the font colour ..... I don't think they ever got centering fixed on the beta site, I like to be able to center things .... that's my need to balance things coming out! LOL

Thanks so much!
It worked!
Hey Katherine!
I was just on your blog
Yes, I think they intended us to have the tree editor....it must have gotten lost in the transition somehow.
Without the tree editor, though...I can't seem to resize images, thus trying to use only thumbnail images, so I don't post huge covers.

Hey Berlin!
Your welcome!!!
Oh, look, we have a tree editor now for pics!! That will be a lot easier!

Cool!
I was wondering if we would still be able to do that. I'm going to go give it a try! I like being able to see book covers.

re: Fun site
Hey Sarah,
I have to say I am glad that I know so many people from the challenge...or I might find it more overwhelming. I am thrilled to see so many friends here already!
I love the favorites feature, now I can remember where i posted, lol!

another question
Tammy, I noticed that when you post book reviews you can see the pic and a few words on the page where everyone's posts are listed. I have only posted one book review so far but nothing came up on the book challenge page. I had a picture in my post.....how do you get the pic and the first few lines to show up where people look to decide which post to go into?
Thanks
re: another question
Hey Shelley!
Underneath where you are pasting your picture, there is a tree, which I will refer to as the tree editor. If you click on your cover photo, and then click on tree editor, it should open up for you. Inside there is a drop down menu, which gives you the option of "align right" or left, or center, etc. I pick align left. Then I close the tree editor, and when I type in my summary, I do it directly to the right of the picture.
I hope that helps!!!

Now I do need help...
I tried to post another pic tonight and nothing happened. I thought maybe I'd done something wrong with the pic on photobucket so tried another pic from earlier (that worked) and still nothing. Could the tree editor not be working?
Tammy - i would appreciate your other instructions too. I know so little of this that I am enjoying the tutorials!
thanks,
ElleJay

LOL I can't understand a word you just said!!! LOL But this entire discussion has me dizzy! :) I want to learn this so bad but it is not making sense. I will need to read everything really slow. The book I am reading now is a Harlequin so maybe I will try to post the picture when I blog it.
I understand that to have Photobucket, you don't need to pay? But can someone tell me what Photobucket is and how do I get there?
Thanks,
Margie :)
Margie, finally something
Margie, finally something i can't get mixed up on...i hope. LOL
I'm registered at photobucket and it's free...i found it by Googleing for photobucket.

Hey Debi!!
WHat kind of issue are you having trying to post your pic into your profile, is it a size issue?
"I would be the most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves"...Anna Quindlen
Hey Deb!
There is an easier way now, since I posted the above directions. I'm going to put it one post below. You may be able to do it fairly easily.
"I would be the most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves"...Anna Quindlen
Hey Kathy, ElleJay, and Margie, and everyone!
Okay, here is a possibly simpler way to post pics.
1. Follow steps one and two in the above blogpost above. (Skip the photobucket stuff)
2. You should now open the tree editor, the little pic below your comment or blog box. There is a line where you can insert an URL, paste it there.
3. Below where you paste it is an alignment box. You should set it at left
4. Then there are three places to set numbers/borders. I suggest you set them all at 5.
That should be it, and I hope this makes it simpler. Please let me know how it all goes, and good luck!!!

Tammy

Profile pic
I'm guessing it's a size issue. I use the browse feature and find the photo and then I hit the update or whatever the save button is called... and it goes back to being blank and nothing happened. I tried my yahoo avatar image from last year, the Kwips Got Klovers image, and even a photo I had of some of my fave hockey players but none loaded.
