Elizabeth Rolls ~ A Compromised Lady

   As of last year Elizabeth Rolls is one of my new favourite and auto-buy authors.  This is the third of her books that I’ve read and I’m on the hunt for more… but for some reason I cannot find a lot of her older books in UBS.  I’m guessing that a lot of other readers hold onto her books the same way that I do ~ with a stranglehold!  A Compromised Lady details the story of Richard Blakehurst whose twin brother's story was chronicled in His Lady Mistress.; it was very nice to catch up with both Max and Verity again.

  BOOK READ:

Elizabeth Rolls; A Compromised Lady; HH #864; September 2007

 SYNOPSIS:

   Richard Blakehurst is in London to buy a townhouse but his aunt and godmother, Almeria Arnsworth, has prevailed upon him to stay with her for the season.  Being an easygoing sort, Richard agrees only to find that his godmother has an ulterior motive ~ she’s got an heiress for him.

   Thea Winslow has been absent from London for a number of years, ever since her fiancé died under mysterious circumstances 8 years ago.  Now almost 25 and an heiress,  her father who is looking for a political alliance has commanded her to come to London for the season and it has been decided that she will stay with her godmother, Lady Arnsworth.

   Richard and Thea knew each other years ago when they were children, but the last time they saw each other was at Thea’s come out ball.  Richard, barely recognizing Thea at first, is dismayed ~ the sparkle that had been a part of her is no longer apparent and she appears to be little more than a ghost.  What could have happened and just why does he feel that he should do something about it?

 MY NOTES:

   Each and every book by Elizabeth Rolls that I’ve read has had an amazing emotional depth to it.  The characters are very real and come to life on the page; they are very easy to connect with and to want to find out just how they got to where they are. As the story progressed I was drawn more and more to Richard and Thea, but there were some very memorable other characters whose stories I dearly hope will be coming out.  The impact that this story had upon me was very powerful, but it was the hope and love that shone through.  Elizabeth Rolls has done it again and created another beautiful story.

 RATING:

Excellent verging on OUTSTANDING ~ 4.5  stars {a beautiful and touching story that deserves to be kept and re-read; of course the author is an autobuy!}

Romantic to Sensual {most of the book there is little more than a gentle wooing, but at the end there is a definite sensuality to the story}
