After her mother was murdered when she was 15, Megan went to live with her uncle, and has almost completely silenced the voices she heard in her head. What Mgan doesn't understand is that she is a Listener, able to hear the voices of people who have died. Until someone tries to kill her...
Neal Grady has been protecting Megan ever since the fateful nght her mother was killed. He has used his own psychic abilities to relieve the burden of the horrors Megan's gift brings her. But now he has returned. It appears Molino, the man who killed Megan's mother in a fit of vengeance and rage, has found Megan and will do anything to kill her too. but neal will do anything to protect Megan from such evil.
Molino wants the Ledger, a book that holds all the secrets to the psychically talented family Megan is believed to be descended from and he intends to use it to kill off all the "freaks." linked through the family. Megan's mother killed Molino's son with her gifts, convincing Molino she is a Pandora, the most dangerous of all psychic talents.
I dind't describe the story as well as I'd have liked but I hope I gave a fair impression anyhow. LOL
This was the abridged version of the audio book and i think some of the editing could've been better to not jump around quite so much from scene to scene. I expect teh parts cut out did a better job of transitioning. This was a very compelling book, fast paced, lots of suspense and I loved the addition of the various psychic gifts and how the talented used them, especially the Pandoras.

You did a good enough job that I have now added it to my list of "books to look for" along with book 1 & 2. Do you know the titles of those?

Hi Kelley
I haven't read a book by Iris Johansen in a long time. This one sounds like one I would like so I'll make a note of it.

Deb lent it to me. She is always good about doing that. :-) I have a whole pile of audio from her and more I still want to borrow. :-) I don't know if i've ever read Johansen before or not. But this one sounded so good I had to try it.

Confusing
I thought this was a bit hard to follow but it was very good even if it took me halfway through to sorta figure out what was going on. Even confused I liked the story and would like to read a sequel or tie in an unabridged version. I usually don't get the abridged unless it's all I can get.
Yeah it jumped around a
Yeah it jumped around a bit. And the whole explanation of the Pandoras and what they do may have been handled better in the unabridged version. And while I knew there would be a romance between Neal and Megan, we didn't see much of it until they fall into bed.

Did you get the feeling that something was brewing between Harley and Renata? I sure felt some tension there and wonder if it was explored more in the unabridged version.

Iris Johansen
I love this author and want to read this book. I have to wait for it in paperback as it is only in HC now. Thanks for the review. It only makes me want to read it more. I will have to try audio books someday

Yes I am a readalholic and I don't want the 12 step program!!!
Sorry Kelley
Kelley,
My mistake on thinking it was part of a series. Just stopped by my library (online of course) and put a hold on this book. Had to get it in large print since the normal print had 73 holds on it and only 1 on the large print version, which is OK because then I won't have to use my reading glasses.
