Val's father was arrested for embezzlement but died of a heart attack before he could be tried. John's stepbrother was accused instead so John's out to prove he's innocent, and he follows Val to her grandmother's house and rents a room and pretends to be a handyman so that he can check up on her. Val's father gave her papers but what do they mean, can they help prove who exactly is the guilty party?
It was fairly clear who the baddie was, but this was more about a poor little rich girl finding out how the other half live and realising that she could survive without family money. Charming romance, despite the deception which wasn't dragged on too long
